Jamey Hampton is a Portland-based singer/songwriter with a propulsive and theatrical musical style. Hampton mixes genres and crosses influences with the confidence of an acrobat working without a net. At the root of his writing lie vivid imagery and impressionistic tales. He creates rocky jazzy intelli-pop, layering sharp, incisive lyrics on a glorious bed of sound undulating from the delicate to the dangerous. Driven by melody and a strong rhythmic thrust, lush ballads of hope, disappointment and resolution are interspersed with hard-driving songs that showcase his superb guitar playing, acrobatic vocals deeply grooving band.
Jamey's debut album, "Throw Caution", was released in 2000. The Oregonian called it "Pure ecstatic pop with terrific performances."
In December of 2003, Jamey released his latest collection of songs on a new CD entitled "Chasing Daylight". The release party was held as a benefit for the international relief agency Mercy Corps.
